Built to protect clinical data
Clinical data is sensitive. FlourishBx was designed with PHI protection as a first principle — not a checkbox at the end of development.
Row-Level Security
Every table in the database has PostgreSQL row-level security enabled, and a database event trigger switches it on automatically for any table added later, so the protection cannot be forgotten. The application connects with a role that owns nothing and is subject to every policy. Where a request must reach past a policy — issuing a recovery code, recording a consent — it goes through a named, reviewed database function rather than a wider grant, and each of those functions checks the caller itself.
Encrypted Data
All data is encrypted in transit over TLS and encrypted at rest. Server request logs record the route that was called and the outcome, and are written to exclude record identifiers and database error text that could contain a submitted value. No clinical data is sent to third-party analytics — there is no third-party analytics.
Session Timeouts
Authenticated sessions expire after inactivity on both the web dashboard and mobile app. Devices that go idle automatically require re-authentication — protecting client data if a device is left unattended or lost.
